In this post, you can ref key functions of High school teacher in details. Based on this function list, you can set up daily duties, weekly duties, monthly tasks/activities.

I. List of High school teacher duties:

  1. Teach approximately six periods, as directed by the School Leader;
  2. Plan and deliver engaging, rigorous lessons, according to students’ needs and the provided curriculum, where applicable;
  3. Maintain a positive, safe, and organized learning environment;
  4. Update grade book on a weekly basis;
  5. Inform students and families about students’ progress;
  6. Implement school-wide student management policies within classroom;
  7. Actively participate in all teams, including grade level, content team, and other teams as designated by the School Leader;
  8. Make parental contact by phone and/or conduct home visits when necessary;
  9. Attend parent meetings and conferences;
  10. Chaperone local and out-of-state field lessons
  11. Conduct morning, lunch, and afternoon duties during assigned times;
  12. Complete and submit all necessary paperwork in a timely manner;
  13. Partner with YDS for the individualized coordination of school-wide programs and services for each student (i.e. tutoring, mentoring, parental engagement, workforce development, and post-secondary educational plans, etc.)
  14. Demonstrate knowledge and support of Schools’ mission, values, standards, policies and procedures, confidentiality standards, and code of ethical behavior
  15. Ensure compliance with all state and federal laws, local board policies, administrative guidelines, and the CT Educators Code of Ethics;
  16. Serve as appropriate role model for Schools’ colleagues, students, staff, and parents;
  17. Conduct self in a professional manner during all School meetings
  18. Accomplishes tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.
II. List of High school teacher qualifications

  1. Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year educational institution.
  2. CT High School teacher certification/license: English, Math, Science, and Social Studies certifications are highly preferred
  3. Belief in and commitment to the mission and core value of School
  4. Openness to giving and receiving frequent feedback
  5. Demonstrated ability to work on a team
  6. A dedication to learn, grow, and develop as a professional
  7. Belief that every student can and will achieve in your class
  8. Ability to work urgently in a fast-paced and results-oriented environment
  9. Strong written communication skills
  10. Ability to juggle multiple tasks and initiatives at once
  11. Detail-oriented and self-directed
  12. Initiator, problem-solver, and creative thinker
  13. Ability to maintain emotional control under stress
