I. List of Mentor teacher duties:
- Administrative and interpersonal behaviors consistent with the expectations of the school community.
- Professionalism in approach to work with children and families.
- Confidence in performing administrative functions required to ensure the smooth and efficient daily operation of the school.
- Responsible for providing a safe, healthy, and positive school culture and environment.
- Responsible for sharing administrative coverage of extra-curricular activities.
- Participates in meetings as required and openly collaborates with the School Board when necessary.
- Comfort and capability in responding to written and oral requests for information.
- Leads or assists in all aspects of running the school.
- Hires and supervises all staff in conjunction with the other Mentors.
- Supervises student teachers, community volunteers, and parent teachers.
- Evaluates the educational process of all students in collaboration with the other Mentors and teachers.
- Assists in maintaining all educational, co-curricular, and extra-curricular programs and activities within the school.
- Assists in maintaining school-wide programs and special programs and services.
- Home Center management.
- Lead Teacher of Language Arts, Math, Science, Humanities, and Art.
- Dedication to the portfolio assessment process. Oversees student portfolio creation, and helps develop authentic assessment strategies for the school.
- Initiates and responds to requests for parent conferences.
- Provides information to the community when appropriate.
- Assists with the organization of school activities and special events.
- Cooperates with local governmental, civic, and professional groups when appropriate.
II. List of Mentor teacher
qualifications
- Master’s Degree in Education
- 2 – 3 years of teaching experience required. Mixed age teaching experience preferred.
- 2 – 3 years of relevant experience as a Teacher Leader required.
- Experience designing and implementing content area curriculum.
- Comfort implementing differentiated instruction in all areas.
- Positive Behavior Management experience and familiarity with Responsive Classroom teaching concepts.
- Familiarity and confidence using technology in the classroom.
- Devotion to child-centered education.
- Educational Transcripts, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations and at least 3 letters of Reference should be submitted to the search committee for review.
