I. List of Agriculture teacher duties:

  1. Plans and implements a program of instruction that adheres to the Company’s philosophy, goals and objectives as outlined in the adopted course study.
  2. Makes purposeful and appropriate lesson plans that provide for effective teaching strategies and maximize time on task.
  3. Plans and implements a program of study designed to meet individual needs of students.
  4. Creates a classroom environment conducive to learning by employing a variety of appropriate teaching strategies.
  5. Encourage student enthusiasm for the learning process and the development of good study habits.
  6. Provides progress and interim reports as required.
  7. Prepares substitute folder containing appropriate information as required.
  8. Plans and prescribes purposeful assignments for paraprofessionals, tutors and volunteers as needed.
  9. Recognizes learning and adjustment problems and makes referrals as appropriate.
  10. Demonstrates a strong grasp of subject matter.
  11. Uses effective oral and written expression.
  12. Keeps current in the subject matter knowledge and learning theory and is willing to share this knowledge for continual improvement of the school’s curriculum.
  13. Assists on the on-going curriculum revision process including the revision of written courses of study.
  14. Becomes acquainted with supplemental services beneficial to students as an extension of regular classroom activities.
II. List of Agriculture teacher qualifications

  1. Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  2. Appointees will be required to possess a driver's license
  3. Knowledge of the principles and techniques of middle and/or secondary education.
  4. Knowledge of the educational challenges for high school dropouts and troubled juveniles.
  5. Knowledge of the techniques used in group activities and classroom management.
  6. Knowledge of assigned subject matter and related instructional technique.
  7. Knowledge of the preparation and maintenance of accurate records.
  8. Ability to analyze, comprehend, and interpret problems pertinent to the work involved.
  9. Ability to organize assigned work and develop effective work methods.
  10. Ability to establish and maintain required records and files.
  11. Ability to operate, inspect, and maintain equipment used in instruction activities. Ability to observe and report performance of participants.
  12. Ability to work harmoniously with a variety of personalities and deal diplomatically with difficult individuals.
  13. Ability to tolerate verbal and mental abuse while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  14. Ability to perform appropriate crisis intervention involving student behavior including physically breaking up fights in the classroom.
  15. Ability to complete pre-service and annual in-service CPR and first aid certification training and self-defense and physical intervention training.
  16. Ability to pass drug and TB screening and testing and criminal background check.
  17. Ability to work under pressure; meet inflexible deadlines; set priorities; and work independently.
  18. Ability to learn to utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the agency, office, or related units.
  19. Ability to read, write, speak, understand, or communicate in English sufficiently to perform the duties of this position.
